As Autumn arrives, we seek comfort in cosy cafés and seasonal indulgence. Whilst we anticipate the welcomed return of Pumpkin Spice this year, warming and indulgent 'brown' flavours keep their place on seasonal menus as well as exciting new flavour launches.
Iced beverages are rising in popularity even in colder months, +4% increase in the UK compared to last year.
Latte remains the top beverage platform for Autumn Winter at 38%, followed by Hot Chocolate.
Chocolate remains the top flavour for the 3rd year running, since 2021.
Pistachio has been named one of the fastest growing up & coming flavours within the last few years.
Key Trends this Autumn
1) Delightful Indulgence
As we enter the colder months, consumers look to the "treat yourself" mentality. Think flavoured hot chocolates, mochas and indulgent frappés using key comfort flavours including Toffee, Butterscotch, Caramel and Chocolate.
Dessert inspired flavours remain prominent on the market such as Lotus Biscoff, Chocolate Brownie and Black Forest Gateau.
2) Cold beverages remain in cold months Whilst hot drinks remain the most popular in the colder months, there is increasing demand for iced drinks all year round, particularly amongst younger consumers.

3) Sometimes, more is more.
As Limited Time Offers and seasonal specials become more popular in the market, we see hospitality operators continue to increase and expand their seasonal offering. In 2023, the average number of seasonal drinks launched on the high street in September was 5, with Costa leading the market with 9 drink launches across their Autumn range.

Trending Flavours: Pistachio Pistachio has become a craze flavour across food & beverage in the last few months. From affogato, gelato, pastries and now even viral chocolate bars.
In the last 10 years, the world pistachio production has increased by 46%. The fastest rising formats for Pistachio after confectionary, is Latte at 45.13% and coffee more generally at 18.52%.
